Merge PDF files

Runs on your device — nothing is uploaded

Drop two or more PDFs and get a single document back, with the pages in exactly the order you arranged them. The merging happens on your own device, so your files never travel to a server.

Drop your files here or click to browse — processed locally, never uploaded

How it works

  1. Add your PDFsDrag the files onto the box, or click it to browse. Add them one at a time or all at once.
  2. Fix the orderFiles merge top to bottom. Remove any file with the remove button if you picked the wrong one.
  3. Merge and downloadPress Process. The merged PDF downloads straight from your browser — usually in well under a second.

What merging does and does not change

Pages are copied across as vector data, so text stays selectable, images keep their original resolution and file sizes stay close to the sum of the inputs. Bookmarks, internal links and annotations are preserved. Interactive form fields keep their values only where field names do not clash between documents — if two PDFs both contain a field called "Name", the second document's value is dropped.

When to merge rather than keep files separate

Merging is the right move for anything you will submit as a unit: a signed contract with its annexes, an expenses claim with receipts behind it, a portfolio where each project is a chapter, or a scanned set of pages that a scanner produced as twenty separate files. It is the wrong move when the documents have different audiences or different retention rules — merge those only at the moment you send them.

If you need only some of the pages from each document, split first and merge second. The Split tool extracts the pages you list, and the Merge tool then puts them in your chosen order.

Merging a lot of files at once

There is no fixed limit on how many PDFs you can merge — the ceiling is your own device's memory. A few dozen normal documents is comfortable on a laptop. If you are merging hundreds of scanned files, do it in batches of twenty to fifty and merge the results afterwards.

Questions

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. There is no server involved. Your browser reads the files, joins them in memory and hands you the result. You can disconnect from the internet after the page has loaded and it will still work — you can verify this in your browser's network tab while a merge runs.

Is there a limit on how many PDFs I can merge?

No fixed limit. The practical ceiling is your device memory, and batches up to a few dozen normal documents are fine.

Do bookmarks and form fields survive the merge?

Page content, links and annotations are preserved. Interactive form fields keep their values only where the field names do not clash between documents.

Can I merge password-protected PDFs?

Files with an open password must be unlocked first, because they cannot be read without it. Owner-password files that only restrict editing are processed normally.

Can I change the page order after merging?

Not in this tool — the merge is a one-shot operation. Arrange the file order before pressing Process, or merge again from the originals. If you only need to reorder pages within one document, split it, then merge the resulting pages back in the order you want.

Does merging reduce quality?

No. Pages are copied as-is rather than rendered and re-encoded, so there is no loss of resolution or text quality.
