PDF Nest

Terms of use

The short version: it is a free tool, you may use it for anything lawful, and you keep your own copies of your documents. Nothing is uploaded, so there is no service holding your files and nothing to be liable for losing. These terms are written in plain language on purpose — there is no legal department behind this site and pretending otherwise would be dishonest.

What this site is

PDF Nest is a set of document tools that run inside your own web browser. There is no account to create, no subscription, no licence key, and no server that receives your documents. The work happens on your machine, in the tab you already have open.

Your files

When you choose a file, your browser reads it from your own disk and writes the result back to your own disk. Your documents are never transmitted to this site or to anyone else, which means they cannot be read, lost, or handed over by us — not as a matter of policy, but because they never leave your device in the first place. You can verify this yourself in your browser's network tab, or by disconnecting from the internet after the page has loaded.

What you may use it for

Anything lawful. Personal, academic and commercial use are all fine, on as many documents as you like, with no attribution required and nothing to pay. Your documents are your own and nothing in these terms claims any interest in them or in anything you produce with the tools.

The one thing you may not do is use the site to break the law — for example by altering a document you have no right to alter, or by producing material that is itself unlawful.

Keep your originals

This matters more than everything else on this page. Every tool writes a new file and leaves the original untouched, so you never lose anything by trying. But check the result before you rely on it: open the file you were given, scroll through it, and make sure it says what you expect. Then keep your original as well, until whatever needed it has been accepted.

Two specific cases are worth stating plainly, because they surprise people:

What is not promised

The tools are provided as they are. No warranty is given that a conversion will be perfect, that a result will open correctly in every other application, that a particular document will be handled within any particular time, or that the site will always be available. Some documents genuinely cannot be processed in a browser — usually the very large ones — and the point at which a tool refuses is a limit of the technology rather than a fault to be fixed.

Because no document is ever received, no responsibility is accepted for documents you process — they are in your hands throughout, and always were.

Cost, and how the site is paid for

Every tool is free and unlimited, with no watermark, no daily cap and no file-size tier to buy past. The site is not currently funded by anything, including advertising. If that changes — for example if advertising is added — the privacy policy will be updated before it happens, and the tools will remain free and their handling of your files unchanged.

A paid, server-based version is planned for the jobs a browser cannot do, such as very large documents and batch processing. It would sit alongside these tools rather than replace them, and these terms would be updated at the time.

Changes to these terms

If anything here changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Changes will be described on this page rather than made quietly.
